What is the Argilion Developer Partnership Program?
The Argilion Developer Partnership Program is a program we have developed to resolve what we consider to be an obvious problem and opportunity with website developers and their clients whereby every website in the UK that collects personal data is required to have a compliant privacy policy under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. In addition, a cookies policy is effectively required (whether separate or part of the privacy policy) if cookies are used on the website. We believe that website developers are in an excellent position to provide high quality legal documentation templates to their clients and doing so provides a range of ancillary opportunities and benefits for the web developer themselves.
What are the benefits of selling the website documents?
Some of the key benefits are as follows:
- Additional revenue stream when building websites
- Legal licence to sell the documents (no legal or contractual permissioning issues e.g. we understand some developers may be infringing copyright taking documents from other sites, using non-compliant AI generated documents or using end user licences for third party templates for client sites in breach of third party licence terms in order to ensure their clients have something in place)
- Provides additional work for web developers that can be charged for (e.g. creating relevant pages, formatting text, analysing cookies and installing cookie banners)
- Generates trust and credibility with clients as you are informing them of legal obligations of which they may otherwise be unaware and reducing their legal risk and potential liability
- Finish websites more quickly by allowing clients to put some key documentation in place (we are aware that some web developers are often waiting for clients to provide the legal T&Cs pages which can delay finishing and building the site).
- Free use of the templates for the web developer’s own site as long as they remain part of the Partnership Program and sell at least one set of documents per year.
Why should we partner with Argilion?
Our website documents (privacy policy, cookies policy and terms of use) are some of the leading and highest quality templates available to small and medium sized businesses. We offer a generous reseller programme allowing web developers to resell documents to their customers with no minimum licence purchase requirements.
As well as reviewing the documents ourselves, we have had our website templates documents reviewed by an external third party solicitor.
What are the problems facing developers who don’t buy a reseller licence?
We are aware that web developers may be obtaining templates from third party sites that are or maybe purchased or downloaded on an end user licence rather than a reseller licence. This means that the licence restricts them from providing the documents to a third party and many web developers are therefore in breach of the licence terms, potentially incurring legal liability.
In addition, we understand that some website developers may be using AI to generate documents which are inherently non-compliant with applicable law and thereby putting their clients and possibly themselves at risk. Other web developers may be breaching copyright by copying and pasting other third party T&Cs or extracting relevant sections verbatim.
Do you supply terms and conditions for me to enter into clients with to sell the documents?
Yes, in the reseller terms, unlike many other third party suppliers, we provide you with template terms and conditions which you can incorporate into your own terms and conditions or have as a standalone document to provide the terms on which you supply the templates to your clients and which provide you with legal protection (indeed we require you to flow down terms at least as equally protective as these). While you are ultimately responsible for ensuring you are happy with these terms and you are not our client, these terms provide significant protection for web developers who wish to sell the templates. In essence the template supply terms confirm that the templates are ultimately just that (templates) and the client is ultimately responsible for ensuring they are suitable but they will, even as templates and owing to their high quality, provide significantly more protection than no documentation at all or many other templates that are available online.

What is the cost per licence?
We sell licences at £100 per set of documents (privacy policy, cookies policy and terms of use) per site.
Are discounts or alternative pricing models available?
Yes we are happy to consider discounts for bulk purchases or other potential pricing models e.g. annual subscriptions.
What price can I sell the documents at?
This is entirely up to you although generally given their superior quality to most if not all available online templates we consider the documents alone can be sold for £150-£300. However, this does not include any additional services you may wish to charge for e.g. implementing the documents on the site, cookie analysis and implementation of cookies banners (which can be charged for separately or in combination as you wish – we do not impose any restrictions in such regard as we recognise that developers have different needs, pricing models and relationships with their clients).
